I'm Alex Hawkins, and I'm an Army explosive ordnance disposal officer. My job is to disarm and destroy dangerous explosives. It may not seem like a skill that prepares me for much back here in Michigan. But it does. I'm working to disarm some of Michigan's biggest threats. Rising utility rates, shrinking school budgets, politicians like Mark Tisdale, who are working for their rich donors, not us. Standing up to powerful forces takes guts and a steady hand. But hey, that's my job.
